Histon v Gateshead

Gateshead visit the Glassworld Stadium on Saturday hoping to capitalise on Histon's recent run of poor form.

The Tynesiders will be out to avenge their 3-0 opening day defeat to Histon as they continue their relegation battle. However they will have to do without influential midfielder Kris Gate due to a thigh strain.

Key defender James Curtis will also miss out after picking up his tenth yellow card in midweek.

Speaking to the club's official website manager Ian Bogie was confident in the depth of his side.

"Being without Curtis and Gate is obviously disappointing as they have been two of our top performers this season.

"But we have a large squad with cover in all departments and are not a one, or two, man band."

Veteran defender Chris Swailes is likely to come in as a replacement for Curtis.

Histon have had a nightmare year so far winning only once in 2010 and presently are on a run of three straight losses, without having found the back of the net. The Gateshead boss is hoping to capitalise on the Stutes lack of confidence.

"Histon are a physical outfit who are not on the greatest of runs," said Bogie

"They will be tough opponents but I believe we can go there and get a result. We've tightened up defensively but need to be more creative."

Despite Histon slipping to their third loss in midweek against Rushden and Diamonds, boss Alan Lewer was pleased with the improved performance from his players.

"It was far better than on Saturday when we lost at.Kidderminster" said Lewer "and if we play like that we'll pick up more points than we'll lose."

Regular keeper Danny Naisbett has left Histon and new signing David Knight will make his second appearance in goal.

Lewer welcomes back Adam Bygrave from suspension and Andy Pugh is available having joined on loan from Gillingham.
