Kings Lynn legend passes on

The passing on of the man affectionately known as Mr Kings Lynn prompted a torrent of tributes from Linnets fans.

Maurice Ebbs, aged 73, passed away after a brief illness last week Thursday at his home in Wootton. He leaves behinds his wife, Jenny, and two daughters.

He is well known locally for his involvement with Lynn FC spanning 67 years, rising through the ranks from tea boy to matchday secretary in 2006.

In the summer of 2006 his health problems forced him to take a backseat but Mr. Ebbs still made it his mission to support the team, home and away, whenever he could.

Several former Linnets managers hailed him for his work and as a person.

Kevin Boon told Lynn News: "Maurice was loyal, respected by everyone and a true gentleman.

"He was a great ambassador for the club. It's people like him who make football clubs.

"His personality was fantastic. I will never forget his smile, laugh and his pipe. The memories of him will never disappear."
