Tom Craddock

Forest Green 0-1 Luton Town

Luton Town continued their excellent start to the Blue Square Premier season with a 1-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers at the New Lawn on Tuesday evening.

A goal in the 57th minute by Tom Craddock was enough to give the Hatters the three points and maintain their unbeaten start to the new term.

Luton almost grabbed the lead as early as the 11th minute when George Pilkington rose to head a corner goal-ward only to have Andy Taylor clear the ball of the line for the home side.

The Hatters dominated the first-half, but rarely threatened the Rovers goal, however, they did have a late chance in the first period to take the lead when Asa Hall sent his header just wide after he had got on to the end of Freddie Murray's cross following some good work down the left by the midfielder.

The visitors finally found the break-through in the 57th minute when Rovers debutant Mark Ellis tried to head the ball back to keeper Terry Burton, but Craddock managed to intercept and slotted the ball home.

Forest Green Rovers rallied late on as they tried to salvage something from the game, but their attack proved ineffective against a well-organised Luton defence and the Hatters hung on for the win.
