Chester boss Jim Harvey
10-man Chester City halted a five-match losing streak with a hard-fought draw against promotion-chasing Luton Town at Deva Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The first half-hour produced little in the way of goalmouth action with both sides struggling to create any clear-cit chances.
Luton's Asa Hall fired over from long range in the 32nd minute, while Chester midfielder Anthony Barry saw his effort from outside the area drift wide of the right-hand post.
Chester saw themselves reduced to ten men in the 42nd minute when right-back Kevin Roberts was shown a straight red after hauling down Matthew Barnes-Homer.
However, the visitors struggled to make their numerical advantage count after the break as a youthful Chester City side battled tooth and nail to stay in the contest.
The Hatters came close the breaking the deadlock in the 69th minute but Alan White's header from deep inside the six-yard box cleared the crossbar.
Barnes-Homer also had a great opportunity to put the visitors ahead in the 82nd minute but he headed wide of the left-hand post from inside the penalty area.
Chester bookings: Freeman, Kelly, Wilkinson.
Sent off: Roberts (42).
Luton bookings: Newton.
Referee: M Brown (Bristol).
Attendance: 1,352.
