Andy Mangan
Forest Green Rovers and Wrexham FC have both confirmed that 23-year-old striker Andy Mangan has joined the Dragons for an undisclosed fee.
Andy, who last kicked a ball competitively for Rovers in the final match of the 2008/09 season, found himself ineligible to play again until the end of December 2009 due to a suspension imposed for breaches of betting regulations, when he was a player with Bury FC prior to joing Rovers.
In the full season he had with Rovers, Mangan notched up 30 goals and the Golden Boot award from Blue Square. Following his suspension, he was then sidelined due to an injury.
Having undergone a medical with Wrexham and after agreeing personal terms, the two clubs settled on the fee for his regsitration and other conditions, to allow the transfer to take place including his international clearance.
Forest Green Rovers acknowledge the contribution Andy made to club and extend to him our grateful thanks, wishing him all the best in his future playing career and long life to his family.
His personal life did wish to see him located nearer to his home and young family being based in Liverpool. Andy will always have a place in the historic fabric of the club albeit a short one in length of time at the New Lawn. Everyone at the club are sure we will not only miss his goals but his "scouse banter", though the club stresses the point that we have never stood in the way of any players personal wishes for their future plans and aspirations.
