Mangan set to make his debut?

Wrexham v AFC Wimbledon

Dean Saunders could hand debut Wrexham appearances to Andrew Mangan and Anthony Barry in Saturday's Blue Square Premier fixture against Wimbledon at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.

Mangan joined the Welsh outfit from Forest Green Rovers on an eighteen-month deal and Saunders hopes the 23-year-old will bolster his side's attack.

"Andy got 30 goals last season," Saunders told The Leader. "He is quick, gets in behind people and anticipates where the ball is going which helps as a striker."

"I will see how Andy feels. He has not played since pre-season but I have taken that gamble and he looks sharp," he added.

Former Chester midfielder Barry is another new acquisition that could feature this weekend while the Dragons have the trio of Glenn Poole, Nathan Elder and Will Hendry back in contention after they missed the FA Trophy clash against Altrincham as they were cup-tied.

Wimbledon boss Terry Brown is hoping that Danny Blanchett and Steven Gregory will recover from respective leg and groin injuries.

Nathan Elder, who is on loan from Shrewsbury, scored on his debut for the Wombles and he is eager to help the club progress through the divisions.

"There is a vision here and real aspirations to get back into the Football League and I really want to play my part in achieving that," he told the Wimbledon Guardian.
