Rushden & Diamonds 0-0 Wrexham

Rushden & Diamonds and Wrexham played out a 0-0 draw in the Blue Square Premier on Tuesday night.

Rushden are 12 points better off than the Dragons and they almost claimed all three points had it not been for a fine save from goalkeeper Sam Russell who preserved a point for the visitors when he made a fine one-handed save from Mark Byrne in added time.

Craig Farrell came close to giving Rushden an early lead but couldn't keep him close range shot on target.

Farrell then should have scored in the 15th minute after being set up by leading goalscorer Lee Tomlin but he only managed to hit the crossbar from inside the six-yard box.

Rushden keeper Dale Roberts was then called into action to make a good save to keep Lamine Sakho from opening the scoring for the visitors before young Wrexham striker Obi Anoruo came then had two near misses. He first saw an effort saved by Roberts before being once again denied, this time after some good skill in the box, before unleashing a fierce shot.

And with the match winding down, Russell ensured a share of the spoils as he one-handedly denied Byrne in added time.
