Anthony Barry and Jamie McGuire
Blue Square North outfit Fleetwood Town have signed Anthony Barry having received international clearance from the FA of Wales.
The midfielder left the Chester City earlier this month following contractual issues at the troubled Cheshire club and signed for Blue Square Premier Wrexham.
Barry, 23, then made a u-turn and opted to join the Blue Square North leaders and will be included in the squad to face Hinckley United at Highbury this Saturday.
Town manager Micky Mellon said Barry will increase the depth of his promotion pushing side.
"Anthony Barry is a player we've tracked for sometime and plenty of hard work has been put in by me and the chairman. This is a very exciting signing for Fleetwood Town. To have a player of his calibre makes the squad even stronger. He has watched us on a number of occasions and knows what Fleetwood Town are all about. We now have probably one of the best midfield players in the whole of non-league."
Mellon highlights Barry's pedigree as a key factor in bring the 23-year-old the midfielder to Highbury.
"Although he's in his early twenties Anthony has plenty of experience. He played at Wembley two seasons ago against Blackpool (in the 2006-07 Football League One play-off final) and has gone through the leagues with Accrington Stanley. Add his Football League experience with Yeovil Town and Chester City and that shows someone with the hunger and ability to the return to that level."
Town are on target to turn fulltime this summer but Mellon realises he must keep an edge to the growing rank of full-time professionals he already has at the club.
"The youth team are full time and we may start to integrate some sessions over the coming weeks for first team players. Daytime training is available with the youngsters and the likes of Gareth Seddon already take advantage and join them. It's not mandatory but we may suggest it would be good to see one or two first team players come in more often."
