Altrincham 1-3 Wrexham

Wrexham picked up a valuable away win when they beat Altrincham 3-1 at Moss Lane in their Blue Square Premier encounter on Saturday.

Goals from Andy Mangan, Wes Baynes and Mark Jones ensured that the Dragons came away with the three points.

Dean Saunders' charges made their intentions clear from the outset as they snatched the lead as early as the fourth minute when Frank Sinclair's cross from the left flank was flicked on by Jamie McCluskey to Mangan and he made no mistake from right in front.

The visitors dominated the first-half and it was due reward when they doubled their advantage in the 37th minute as Silvio Spann found Mangan in the area and he directed a neat backheel to the oncoming Baynes, who drilled the ball home to make it 2-0.

The Dragons wrapped up the tie in the 74th minute when Baynes played Jones through on goal and he curled his shot around Robins stopper Stuart Coburn into the back of the net.

Matthew Doughty did manage to pull a goal back from the spot for the home side after Andrew Fleming was adjudged to have brought down Chris Senior in the area, but it proved to be too little too late as Wrexham ran out convincing winners.

Altrincham bookings: Senior, Denham.

Wrexham bookings: Smith, Fleming.
