Andy Mangan
Wrexham defeated high-flying Mansfield Town 2-1 on Tuesday to extend their unbeaten run in the Blue Square Premier to four matches.
Wes Baynes opened the scoring for Dean Saunders' side after 28 minutes with Jake Speight grabbing a 48th minute equaliser but new signing Andy Mangan scored his second goal in two games to seal all three points.
The home side looked dangerous from the start with both Baynes and Mangan hitting the woodwork after quick breaks.
And it didn't take long before the Dragons had taken the lead as Baynes latched onto Christian Smith's neat through-ball to finish under the body of Alan Marriott.
Both sides played some neat passing football for the rest of the first half but were unable to create any clear cut chances.
However, Mansfield caught Wrexham cold after the restart and found an equaliser on 48 minutes. Rob Duffy flicked on Craig Armstrong's long throw leaving Speight the relatively easy task of heading home.
Mangan responded with a cheeky lob that just skimmed the post while Duffy fired wide as the Stags looked for a second.
But it was the home side that took advantage of their chances when Mangan netted from close range after a scramble in the box following a Baynes corner.
Wrexham have now taken 10 points from a possible 12 and lifted themselves into the top half of the Blue Square Premier for the first time this season.
