Eastbourne Borough 2-1 Wrexham

Ten-man Eastbourne Borough managed to hang on for a valuable three-point haul against Wrexham on Saturday afternoon.

The home side started brightly and took the lead in the 18th minute when Jamie Taylor finished off an impressive counter-attack with a clinical header.

That goal seemed to wake up the Dragons and they learnt from their mistake, taking the game to the hosts while remaining cautious in defence.

The match took a sour turn early into the second period when Neil Jenkins was shown a straight red card for a poor challenge on Jamie McCluskey.

While many sides would have looked to protect their lead having gone a man down, Eastbourne pushed in search of a second and were rewarded when Liam Enver-Marum capitalised on some indecision in the Dragons defence to double their lead.

Wrexham rallied towards the end and set up an exciting finish when Mike Williams found the back of the net in the 75th minute.

The visitors pressed hard in search of an equaliser in the remaining minutes but the home defence stood firm and held out for a vital victory.

The three-point haul lifts The Sports into 19th position, while the Dragons drop down to 13th place due to the defeat.
