Bath City 0-2 Wrexham

Dean Saunders' Wrexham recorded their second win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Bath City at Twerton Park on Bank Holiday Monday.

The victory sees the Red Dragons move up to 12th place in the league standings with eight points from six games, while Bath City slip down to 21st position with five points from six.

Bath City had a glorious opportunity to break the deadlock on 24 minutes but Adam Connolly saw his shot from inside the box fly wide of the right-hand post.

Wrexham claimed the lead four minutes later as Andy Morrell headed home a long throw from Curtis Obeng from six yards.

Morrell had a chance to double his and Wrexham's tally minutes later but he fired wide with a right-footed shot on the turn.

The hosts survived a sustained period of pressure for the remainder of the half and they were also let off the hook just after the interval when Gethin Jones failed to properly clear the ball.

However, they were powerless to stop Wrexham from doubling their advantage in the 58th minute as Christian Smith headed home at the near post after Dean Keates had whipped in an inviting cross from the left flank.

Nathaniel Knight-Percival had a chance to make it 3-0 on 67 minutes but he failed to test Bath goalkeeper Ryan Robinson.

Bath should have pulled one back 12 minutes from time but Jake Reid somehow missed the target with his close range header when free at the near post.

Bath bookings: None.

Wrexham bookings: None.

Referee: Andrew Bennett (Devon).

Attendance: 1,262.
