Caines: On target
Kidderminster condemned Chester to another defeat as they got back to winning ways under caretaker boss John Finnigan.
Gavin Caines opened the scoring early on in the match with Duane Courtney securing all three points in the second half.
It was a frenetic start to the match with Harriers keeper Dean Coleman doing well to keep out a Lloyd Ellams shot before the woodwork came to John Danby's rescue in the Chester goal. The keeper tip the initial effort on to the cross bar with Martin Riley's header from the resultant corner coming off the upright.
Danby had to be at his best to keep out Robbie Matthews after 14 minutes but could do nothing about Caines' diving header after the defender had latched onto Matthews' downward header into the box from a well-taken corner.
Chester thought they had scored just four minutes later but Coleman did expertly well to keep Ellams with a fingertip save.
The two sides evened themselves out for the remainder of the first half with Harriers back on top in the second period. Darryl Knights should have scored but with time and space to pick his spot, he couldn't beat Danby, who had anticipated the shot.
Danby was kept busy as the match wore on with the Harriers on all out attack, looking for a second goal that finally arrived in the 89th minute.
Knights fed Damian Spencer who drove into the box before finding Courtney with a low drive across goal, leaving the full-back to slot home a cool finish.
