Crawley will make a case for their aspirations of a play-off play if they can overcome bottom club Chester in the Blue Square Premier this weekend.
The Reds are just five points behind AFC Wimbledon, who occupy fifth place and will be confident of three points against a side that are on minus three.
Chester have battled bravely to reduce the minus 25 point deficit they started the season with but inconsistency has seen their progress stall in recent months.
Crawley will wait on late fitness tests for both Danny Forest and Ben King before naming them in their match-day squad while defender Chris Giles looks set to miss out after picking up a hamstring injury.
Chester go into the tie without a manager after the departure of boss Jim Harvey as well as shorn of the services of Anthony Barry and James Owen, who exited the squad this week.
City's new Director of football Morell Maison will take charge for the match and he will have the unenviable task of trying to defeat a team who are unbeaten in five league and cup games.
Chester, meanwhile, come into the match on the back of a eight-game run without a win.
