Salisbury City secured another vital three points in their bid for safety as they defeated Chester City 1-0 at a near-empty Deva Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The home side battled bravely but were undone when Matt Tubbs scored his 17th goal of the season from the penalty spot with just five minutes of the match remaining.
It was the lowest league attendance in the club's history as just 425 fans watched what may turn out to be City's last ever home game with the threat of being wound up in the High Court next week, hanging over the club.
Currently though, Chester are facing relegation as they find themselves 20 points behind Grays Athletic on minus three.
But despite their worries, the Blues matches the Whites for effort and were unlucky not to have earned something out of the tie.
Ben Wilkinson's penalty appeal was turned down in the 13th minute as the referee saw nothing wrong with Daniel Webb's challenge, while Ben Jones, Glenn Rule and Wilkinson all should have done better when finding themselves in good goalscoring positions.
Salisbury had some good chances of their own as Tubbs headed wide from close range while Sean Clohessy put his effort just wide of the post.
Chances in the second period were limited with Jones blasting over with just the keeper to beat as Stuart Anderson wasted a glorious corner from Bradley Gray.
But with just five minutes remaining, Kevin Roberts was adjudged to have handled inside the box and Tubbs made no mistake from the spot.
