Whites duo on show v York

Enoch Showunmi and Andy Robinson will make their debuts when Leeds kick-off their pre-season friendlies at York City.

Manager Gary McAllister has confirmed every member of his first-team squad will be given a run-out at KitKat Crescent.

McAllister said: "The aim against York is about getting up to speed.

"As much as it's our first game, there'll be a lot of substitutions and we'll probably be using two teams on the night.

"Everyone has come through the first week unscathed and is travelling and will play a part."

Meanwhile, Minstermen boss Colin Walker will use the clash as an opportunity to run the rule over former Exeter winger Lee Elam. The mentor also highlighted that Daniel McBreen will miss the encounter.

He told This Is York: "Daniel McBreen won't take part because it's only three weeks after his cartilage operation and we've got to make sure we bring him back at the right time.

"We are playing behind closed doors at Rotherham on Wednesday and he will get a bit of that game."

Walker also maintained that though the match is only a friendly, his charges will be looking for a win against the League One outfit.

"It's not a game in which we will be looking for points; it's part of our pre-season and trying to get ready for August 9," he added.

"Having said that, as footballers, the players will want to win and will be giving it a go.

"Leeds are still a fantastic club and I'm sure our supporters are looking forward to the game.

"I had a year working at Leeds' academy and I've got good friends there like Neil Thompson, who I've known for a long, long time."

And the York boss is relishing the managerial battle he faces against former Liverpool legend McAllister.

"I will also enjoy pitting my wits against Gary McAllister, who was a fantastic player, " he said.
