Brabin expects more from Pitt

Cambridge United manager Gary Brabin has warned Courtney Pitt he expects more out of him after the winger was offered a new spell at the club.

The 26-year-old was released by former U's boss Jimmy Quinn, but penned a new two-year deal after Brabin admitted he wanted him back at the Trade Recruitment Stadium.

The mentor told the club's official website: "He's one I wanted to bring back straight away, and I have signed him as a winger.

"He's a good player and I think he's been a bit of an enigma in the last few years, but I've told him I'm looking to get more out of him, and I think he's excited by that challenge.

And Pitt, who has notched up 118 appearances for the club, is also a firm favourite of United director George Rolls.

"Courtney is one of the best players in the Conference, if not the league above.

"When he left under Jimmy Quinn, I asked him to delay signing anywhere else to see if the new manager would be interested in bringing him back," said Rolls.

"Gary Brabin thought it was a great opportunity and met Courtney a few times before coming up with a deal.

"We know what we are trying to do at the club. No other Conference team has managed to make the signings we have, and I think there are exciting times ahead."
