Ten-man Luton came back from two goals down to clinch a thrilling away-win over Cambridge United at the Abbey Stadium.

Luton had the better of the first-half play, yet still found themselves going into the break two goals down.

Courtney Pitt scored the opener for the home side before Chris Holroyd converted from the spot on the stroke of halftime.

Adding to the Hatters woes was the fact that striker Liam Hatch had been given his marching orders two minutes before the break after committing a second bookable offence.

Town went into the break looking like a beaten side but manager Mick Harford must have conducted a rousing teamtalk, as they came out for the second half looking a completely different outfit.

It took just three minutes for Kevin Gallen to convert from Rossi Jarvis' corner, halving the deficit in the process.

The two players combined again to draw the Hatters level when, 12 minutes later, Gallen set up Jarvis who curled a stunning shot beyond Cambridge keeper Danny Potter.

The turnaround was completed a mere minute later when Jake Howells tapped home the loose ball from six yards after Potter had parried Gallen's strike.

The celebrations were short lived however, as the hosts pegged back a goal four minutes later when Holroyd completed his double after tapping in Wayne Hattswell's rebounded header.

The Town earned their three points through a spot-kick of their own 15 minutes from time when Gallen slotted past Potter from 12 yards after substitute Shane Blackett had his shirt pulled.
