Cambridge United v Stevenage

Cambridge United boss Martin Ling admits his charges will need to be firing if they are to earn a result against high-flying Stevenage Borough on Boxing Day.

The hosts are currently tenth on the standings, a mammoth 17 points behind The Boro, prompting Ling's tempered expectations.

"Stevenage are on a decent run and will be a tough nut to crack. We're playing the second best team in the league," he told BBC Radio.

"If we are not at our best then we won't win this game. It's as simple as that," he added.

Cambridge will be without striker Lee Phillips, who remains sidelined with a knee injury. His absence could see teenager Adam Marriott start on the bench.

Jai Reason could also get a recall having been dropped for the last two weeks in favour of the lively Sam Ives.

The visitors, who are targeting their third straight win in the league, are without their skipper Mark Roberts (foot) as well as Andy Drury (hernia) through injury.

Michael Bostwick is expected to slot in alongside Jon Ashton at the back, with Dave Bridges and Darren Murphy linking up in central midfield.

Yemi Odubade should lead the attack with either Chris Beardsley or Charlie Griffin, while Stacy Long is expected to continue down the right.

Lawrie Wilson remains out with a long-term injury.
