Grays Athletic 2-0 Torquay

Grays Athletic moved closer to mid-table with a fairly comfortable win over second-placed Torquay United on Saturday afternoon.

Both sides were quite evenly matched on the day but the home side just took their chances when it counted.

The hosts broke the deadlock after 40 minutes when Jon Ashton latched onto a Michael Standing corner kick and placed his header in the top-left corner.

Torquay had a few chances of their own before Danny Kedwell's injury time effort put the game beyond doubt.

Grays bookings: Stuart 37, Watson 90.

Torquay bookings: None.

Ref: S Creighton.
