Weymouth 1-1 Grays

Play-off chasers Grays Athletic were unable to break down a stubborn Weymouth opposition at Wessex Stadium on Tuesday night.

The visitors had more than their fare share of possession but couldn't make it count as a number of chances went begging.

Grays broke the deadlock after 33 minutes when Jamie Taylor ran onto a flicked header by Danny Kedwell and drill a right-footed shot into the bottom-left corner.

The Blues almost doubled their tally three minutes later when a Barry Cogan corner kick found Kedwell in six-yard box, but the striker's header missed the target.

The Terras were awarded a penalty in the 56th minute when Grays' Adam Gross was adjudged to have fouled Anton Robinson in the box.

Simon Weatherstone stepped up to take the resulting spot kick and gave the home supporters something to cheer about as he coolly slotted the ball into the top-right corner.

Weymouth bookings: Weatherstone 5, Beavon 42, Critchell 45, Bailey 56, Doe 66

Grays bookings: Gross 58.
