Grays v Ebbsfleet

Grays Athletic will be looking to exact revenge on fellow strugglers Ebbsfleet United when the sides clash at the New Recreation Ground on New Years Day.

The Fleet earned a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day and Julian Dicks will expect his men to overturn that result as they look to start 2010 on a high note.

The hosts are second from bottom in the standings and are desperate to pick up maximum points in their bid to avoid the dreaded drop.

Visiting manager Liam Daish, meanwhile, wants his charges to bounce back after their 4-2 defeat to Hayes and Yeading and string together some consistency.

"Maybe the performance was a one-off but in our situation we can't have too many of them," he told Kent Online.

"I don't even know myself what was missing and there will have been a few questions to be answered by the players when we meet again and start preparing for Friday's game.

"I'm baffled as how we can play like that two days after the performance against Grays.

"It was just not up to the standards we have set ourselves of late. I felt let down and think they can give me more considering the magnitude of the game and it wasn't what we spoke about before the game

"If it is the best they can offer, then it's not good enough and I felt sorry for the supporters who were there and were magnificent."

The match may come too soon for Fleet's Jordan Collins, who is still recovering from a leg injury.
