Woking 1-2 Oxford United

Oxford United earned a somewhat fortuitous 2-1 victory over Woking at Kingfield Road on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors took the game by the scruff of the neck from the start and thoroughly deserved to take the lead in the 20th minute.

Yemi Odubade found the net from the edge of the penalty area after picking up a pinpoint Adam Murray pass.

The goal seemed to wake the home side up as they probed for an equaliser, but their threats on goal came to nothing as the half-time whistle blew.

The second-half started at a frantic pace as both sides looked to attack at every opportunity.

And the home side had the opportunity to equalise on 57 minutes when Michael Howard brought down Marvin Morgan in the penalty area. But Guiseppe Sole failed to convert from the penalty spot thanks to some heroics from Billy Turley in the U's goal.

Despite missing the spot kick, Sole managed to equalise shortly afterwards, putting the disappointment of the miss firmly behind him.

The home side then had the run of the play as they searched for an advantage.

That never happened for them as the visitors went into the lead for the second time on 77 minutes.

Phil Trainer met a Murray corner with an unstoppable header from close range to hand the U's the points.
