Exeter 1-1 Aldershot

Gary Waddock's Aldershot Town sealed their promotion to the Football League after playing to an exciting draw with Exeter at St James' Park on Tuesday night.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Adam Stansfield collected a Matthew Gill assist pass and went on to place a right-footed effort into the bottom-left corner.

However, Exeter fans soon had something to cheer about as Scott Donnelly netted with an 18-yard finish to level the scores just three minutes later.

Exeter Steve Basham could have snatched a late winner for his side but his close-range header in the 88th minute was palmed away by Aldershot goalkeeper Nikki Bull.

Despite picking up just one point, the Grecians are still in the running for a play-off berth and now find themselves on the same points tally as fifth-placed Stevenage Borough.

Exeter bookings: Edwards 67.

Aldershot bookings: Charles 63.

Ref: C Sarginson.
