Crawley Town 0-1 Aldershot

Aldershot Town further strengthened their position at the top of the Blue Square Premier table with a narrow win against Crawley Town on Easter Monday.

The visitors had the better of the opening exchanges and broke the deadlock after five minutes when Lewis Chalmers headed in a Ben Harding cross from the centre of the penalty area.

The Red Devils had a golden opportunity to draw level just two minutes later but Jamie Cook saw his header from 12 yards out miss the right-hand post.

Crawley supporters were bemoaning their side's bad luck in the 14th minute as Kieran Murphy's header from the left-hand side of six-yard box hit the post and rolled out of play.

In fact, Crawley had a number of chances to equalise but just couldn't make their chances count in the final third.

The Shots were awarded a penalty in the 81st minute when Crawley's Bradley Thomas was adjudged to have fouled Rob Elvins in the box.

However, they were let off the hook as Scott Davies saw his spot kick palmed away by Crawley goalkeeper Ashley Bayes.

Crawley bookings: None.

Aldershot bookings: Chalmers 45, Newman 45, Hylton 70.

Ref: B Malone.
