Crawley 2-1 Grays

Steve Evans' Crawley Town played to a narrow victory over ten-man Grays Athletic at Broadfield Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The first half ended goalless with neither of the sides able to create an incisive finish in front of goal.

However, the second period soon sprang to life as Crawley's Mustapha Carayol netted the opener with an 18-yard finish just 37 seconds after the restart.

The Blues clawed their way back into the game and finally got an equaliser in the 84th minute when Jeff Goulding fired into the bottom-right corner from 12 yards out.

However, Grays Jon Ashton did his side no favours as he received his marching orders minutes later for a professional foul on Crawley's Jamie Cook.

The Red Devils made their numerical advantage count and reclaimed the lead in the 87th minute thanks to an 18-yard finish from Oxford-born midfielder Cook.

Crawley bookings: Wilson 60.

Grays bookings: Stuart 20, Thurgood 45, Downer 59, Goulding 83.

Sent off: Ashton 86.
