Eastbourne 2-1 Crawley

Eastbourne Borough survived a late surge from Crawley Town to run out 2-1 victors at the Langney Sports Club on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils started in the game in fine fashion and edged the first half with a mixture of pin-point passing and controlled possession play.

However, the second half was a different story for the visitors as The Sports came out after the interval looking like a new team.

Marc Pullan broke the deadlock on 47 minutes with an impressive header, sending the home fans into raptures.

Nathan Crabb doubled the lead for the hosts on the hour mark with a neat finish, seemingly ending the match as a contest.

However, the Red Devils found a second wind and managed to regain the form they showed in the first half.

A Neil Jenkins own goal gave the visitors some hope going into the final 20 minutes.

Crawley pushed forward with purpose towards the end of the match, but the home side defended well, making sure the three points stayed at the Langney Sports Club.

Eastbourne are now 13 points above the drop zone and should be safe, while Crawley's play-off hopes took a massive hit with this defeat as they are now seven points off the coveted positions.

Eastbourne bookings: None

Crawley bookings: Bulman, Wilson.

Attendance: 1,268.
