Crawley Town 4-0 Burton Albion

Crawley gave their play-off hopes a massive boost with a 4-0 hammering of ten-man Blue Square Premier leaders Burton Albion.

Town were out of the blocks almost immediately and showed their attacking intentions on four minutes when Danny Forrest shot narrowly wide.

Albion didn't have a chance to heed the warning as a minute later, the hosts were a goal to the good.

Skipper Chris Giles headed home a Sam Rents cross after a short corner from Mikey Malcolm.

The Brewers' day got significantly worse when Darren Stride was sent off for a foul on Chris Giles inside the box. Jamie Cook smashed home the resultant penalty in the 15th minute.

Burton's Mark Byrne and second-half substitute and club topscorer Greg Pearson were notable performers for Albion in the second period with Byrne shooting narrowly wide on 50 minutes with Pearson also coming close, but from a tighter angle after 57 minutes.

Crawley's Forrest was well on his way to being a contender for man of the match for all his creativity from the right side of midfield and made his case with the Red Devils' third goal after 67 minutes.

And the game was put to bed in the 79th minute, when substitute Lewis Killeen headed home Forrest's neat chip into the box.
