Grays Athletic eased their relegation fears with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Crawley Town on Tuesday evening.
Grays move five points clear of the drop zone with the victory and virtually assured of at least another season of Blue Square Premier football.
George Beaven was the hero of the day for the hosts when he grabbed the only goal of the game on 32 minutes.
Beaven was without doubt the hero in front of goal for the hosts, but goalkeeper Lee Butcher deserves special praise for his performance in the Grays goal.
Butcher pulled off some wonderful saves and especially deserves credit for his stop from a Mithun Nayee effort in the second half.
The victory moves Grays five points clear of the relegation zone, while Crawley, who have nothing more than pride to play for, lie in ninth spot with 69 points.
Grays bookings: None.
Crawley bookings: Killeen, Bulman.
Attendance: 630.
Referee: A Hendley.
