Crawley 2-1 AFC Wimbledon

Crawley defeated AFC Wimbledon 2-1 on Tuesday night to give hope to their play-off plans and further dent the Dons' top-five aspirations.

Danny Kedwell opened the scoring for the visitors in the first minute but Terry Brown's side failed to hold onto their lead as Danny Forrest found a first-half equaliser before Charles Ademeno snatched a second-half winner.

Wimbledon have not won in three matches and while the Reds' recent record is not much better, they will be buoyed to have pegged back their play-off rivals.

It was the away side who drew first blood, however, much to the shock of the home fans, as Kedwell latched onto a hopeful long ball forward that flummoxed the Crawley defence before he lobbed Simon Rayner.

The Dons went on to dominate in the early stages as the home side tried to come to terms with their setback and after a cagey 15 minutes, Steve Evans' side's started to find their feet - with this culminating in an equaliser in the 18th minute.

Matt Langston did well to direct a header across goal with Forrest perfectly placed to finish off from close range.

By the time the second half had got underway, Crawley were noticeably on top and Ademeno took advantage of their dominance by scoring a second goal in the 53rd minute.

The striker latched onto a pass from Barry Cogan and turned his marker before finishing cooly past James Pullen.

Crawley spent much of the remainder of the game defending their lead with the match ending on a scrappy note as referee Chris Powell brandished his yellow card on no less than five occasions.

Wimbledon continued to go in search of an equaliser but were denied by the Crawley defence, who held out for a much-needed win.
