Forest Green 3-1 Burton

Forest Green Rovers increased their Blue Square Premier play-off chances after blazing past high-flying Burton Albion at The New Lawn.

Adriano Rigoglioso gave the hosts a deserved lead in the 19th minute and continued to threathen Albions' goal.

It was Leslie Afful who doubled Rovers' score on the 36-minute mark to grant the side a comfortable cushion going into the hal-time interval.

The second-half was less lively although Keith Gilroy nearly pulled one back for the visitors in the 58th minute.

But the goal was sure to come with Nigel Clough's charges bombarding home keeper Terry Burton.

It was Daryl Clare who gave Burton a glimmer of hope in the 71st minute, but any thoughts of staging a comeback were crushed when Afful second his second of the night three minutes later.

Forest Green bookings: None.

Burton Albion bookings: Harrad 46, McGrath 41.
