Aldershot 1-0 Burton Albion

Aldershot are on the brink of claiming the Blue Square Premier title after they defeated Burton Albion 1-0 at the Recreation Ground on Saturday afternoon.

In what was an all-round even contest, the home side edged past the plucky visitors thanks to a Rob Elvins strike.

Elvins found the back of the net in the 36th minute when he latched onto a Joel Grant cross to tap home.

Both teams posed little attacking threat as the match died down in the second-half.

The frustration at not being able to make more of an impact on the scoresheet told towards the end of the match when the Shots' Nikki Bull and Albion's Matthew Williams were both cautioned for dissent and unsporting behaviour respectively.

The result leaves the home side within touching distance of the Football League, while the Brewers still have hopes of cementing a play-off place.
