Burton Albion took a step closer to clinching the Blue Square Premier title after they beat promotion rivals Histon at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday.
The Brewers can now wrap up the title with victory over Kidderminster on Monday.
Aaron Webster opened the scoring for the home side in the 13th minute when he headed home after Darren Stride had flicked the ball on to him from a Keith Gilroy cross.
The Brewers extended their lead in the 53rd minute when Andy Corbett's long range effort found the back of the net as the ball sailed over Histon keeper Danny Naisbitt.
The visitors took the physical approach for much of the game, but Roy McFarland's side seemed to be up for the challenge.
Substitute Ryan Austin then wrapped up the three points for Burton with six minutes to go when he netted his first goal for the club, after he latched onto a Martin Butler pass.
Although the Stutes managed to score a consolation goal through Neil Andrews in injury time when he netted from a header after a Jack Midson cross, it proved to be too little too late as the 3000 home fans celebrated what could be a crucial moment in the Brewers Blue Square Premier title success.
The result will come as a big blow to Histon as they drop down to fifth and face a tense last few fixtures in their bid to reach the play-offs.

"Congratulations to the Brewers for a fantastic season. I hope that they can go on from strength to strength and establish themselves in the football league. Roy, one of the nicest men in football, and a hero of mine from the great Rams days of the 70's has had to use his vast experience to stop the collywobbles. The Conference has been especially strong this year and the top teams have all had some unexpected defeats (look at Torquay this week)but the Brewers will proudly take the title. Conference sides usually take the step up in their stride and I'm sure Burton will be no exception. Well done.
James (Chesterfield). "
