Forest Green 1-2 York

Forest Green's promotion play-off hopes took a denting on Tuesday evening as they were edged out by York City at The New Lawn.

The Minstermen drew first blood after 15 minutes when Forest Green's John Hardiker was penalised for a foul on Martyn Woolford and Nicky Wroe scored with the resulting free kick.

The Rovers fell further behind after 40 minutes as York's Mark Robinson collected a Simon Rusk pass and placed his left-footed shot in the bottom-right corner.

Forest Green rallied in the second-half and pulled one back through Adriano Rigoglioso in the 70th minute.

However, they were made to pay for their lack of cutting edge in front of goal as York held on for all three points.

Forest Green bookings: Rigoglioso 42, Fleetwood 60.

York bookings: None.

Ref: P Gibbs.

Att: 734.
