Lee Fowler
An inspired second-half performance by Eastbourne Borough meant that they came away from the New Lawn with a 2-1 win over Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.
Rovers were probably the better of the two sides in the first-half and they were rewarded for their efforts when they grabbed the lead on the stroke of half time after Mark Preece headed home from a outswinging corner by Lee Fowler.
The Sports, however, came out the stronger in the second half and they deservedly equalised on the hour mark when Dan Smith scored a wonder goal from just outside the area to make it 1-1.
The visitors pushed for a second, but a resilient Rovers defence managed to keep Borough at bay until four minutes from time when Matt Smart caused Jim Harvey and his side heartache with the winner after Nathan Crabb put him through on goal.
The victory means that Borough take a step closer to the play-off places while Forest Green remain in the relegation zone.
