Forest Green 2-2 Kidderminster

Kidderminster Harriers managed to collect a point against Forest Green Rovers at the New Lawn on Tuesday night despite being reduced to nine men.

The match officials stole the limelight as a number of contentious decisions were met with bemusement from sets of supporters.

The hosts created the first real chance of the game in the 10th minute when Andy Mangan latched onto a looping through ball but his shot was blocked by Harriers goalkeeper Adam Bartlett.

However, it was the visitors who broke the deadlock on the half-hjour mark when Martin Brittain collected apss from Matthew Barnes-Homer in the box and fired an effort into the bottom-left corner.

Rovers boss Jim Harvey made a tactical change and it didn't take too long for his alteration to bear fruit as they drew level 10 minutes later.

Mangan managed to find Conal Platt despite being tackled, and the striker fired a close range shot into the net with Kidderminster's defence appealing for offside.

The referee waived away the appeals and was called into action just one minute later when Justin Richards retaliated to horrendous challenge from Lee Ayres.

Richards was given a straight red card but Ayres was let off the hook with a yellow card, despite hacking down the Harriers striker from behind.

Forest Green almost claimed the lead just before the half-time break but Bartlett was alert and denied Mangan to keep his side in contention.

The home side started the second period brightly and David Brown twice came close to further extending his side's advantage.

The Rovers finally got the breakthrough they were looking for in the 77th minute when Mangan met Lee Fowler's cross and headed home to make it 2-1.

Kidderminster's Martin Riley was shown a yellow card a minute later and then in the 82nd minute was given his marching orders when he was adjudged to have fouled Mangan.

The decision did not sit well with Harriers boss Mark Yates, who was subsequently also given his marching orders.

But the Harriers weren't done yet and they showed true grit and determination to claw their way back on even terms with minutes to spare.

In the 88th minute, substitute Stefan Moore latched onto a Mark Creighton pass and hit a shot on the trun which flew into the top-right corner.

Forest Green bookings: Ayres.
