Tamworth 0-0 Forest Green

Tamworth failed to capitalise on their home advantage as they were held to a goalless draw by Forest Green Rovers at the Lamb Ground on Monday afternoon.

The Lambs were unfortunate not to have claimed all three points as Alex Rodman and Iyseden Christie both struck the woodwork in the second half.

The encounter started at a high tempo and Tamworth almost claimed the lead in the 14th minute, but Rovers defender Oliver Hodgkiss cleared Chris Smith's goalbound header off the line.

Forest Green were on the back foot and the hosts came close again just two minutes later as Christie missed the target with a flicked header at the back post.

Tamworth almost got the breakthrough they were looking for on 61 minutes when Alex Rodman struck the base of the post direct from a free kick and Smith headed against the top of the bar from the rebound.

Christie should have finally opened his account with eight minutes left on the clock but his lobbed effort drifted wide of the left-hand post.

The Rovers also had a chance to snatch a late win but Daniel Powell fired a curling effort straight into the arms of goalkeeper Danny Alcock in stoppage time.

Tamworth bookings: Sheridan, Shaw, Pritchard, Smith.

Forest Green bookings: Rankin, Brown, Smith, Thorne.

Ref: Dean Mohareb (Cheshire).

Attendance: 868.
