Forest Green 3-0 Wrexham

Forest Green notched up their first three-point haul of the season with an emphatic victory over Wrexham at The New Lawn on Tuesday.

Rovers lost to Mansfield on the opening day of the season but goals from Reece Styche, Luke Jones and Yan Klukowski handed the hosts on the night a comfortable win.

The Dragons failed to settle into any sort of rhythm early on and were punished in the 20th minute when Lee Smith delivered a cross from the right flank that floated past goalkeeper Scott Sinclair and into the path of Styche, whose aerial execution resulted in the opening goal from his header.

There was no change in the scoreline at the interval as the Welsh outfit clawed their way back into the contest.

But with a quarter of an hour left on the clock, Dave Hockaday's men broke through from a setpiece to double their advantage.

Lee Fowler's corner eluded Wrexham's defenders and an unmarked Jones helped himself to a headed goal to make the score 2-0.

It got worse for Dean Saunders and his side five minutes later when Rovers added a third.

Fowler was the creative force once again as his perfect through pass created a chance for Klukowski, who slid the ball into the bottom left corner to complete an impressive display.

The Dragons had an opportunity to add a consolation goal in stoppage time but Nathaniel Knight-Percival hit his effort over the crossbar.

Forest Green bookings: Styche, Herring.

Wrexham bookings: Sinclair, Morrell.
