Histon 0-2 Stevenage

Stevenage Borough recorded a fairly comfortable victory over Histon at Glassworld Stadium on Monday afternoon despite being reduced to ten men in the opening minutes.

The visitors didn't get off the best of starts as midfielder Peter Vincenti earned himself a straight red card for a challenge on Histon's Craig Pope.

However, despite having just ten men on the pitch, Boro opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Scott Laird managed to beat his marker before firing a low shot under the advancing Danny Naisbitt.

The home side had a glorious opportunity to equalise in the 35th minute but Danny Wright's lofted effort just went over the bar and landed on the roof of the net.

Wright was gifted another chance minutes later by defender Mark Albrighton but fired narrowly wide from a tight angle.

Stevenage boss Graham Westley introduced Yemi Odubade to the fray after the break and the striker responded superbly by finding the back of the net in the 62nd minute.

Eddie Odhiambo and Lee Boylan combined well with the latter sending in a cross which was spilled by Naisbitt, leaving Odubade with a simple finish from six yards.

The match took another twist in the 66th minute when the referee awarded the hosts a penalty but it was simply not to be as Wright blasted the resulting spot kick over the bar.

Histon bookings: Bygrave, Pope.

Stevenage bookings: Laird, Boylan, Henry.

Sent off: Vincenti (6).

Referee: James Adcock (Nottinghamshire).

Certainly one of the better grounds in the League. On one side is the all seated covered Main Stand, which looks quite impressive.
