Altrincham 1-2 Northwich

Northwich came from a goal down in a highly entertaining Blue Square Premier League game to earn a valuable three points over fellow relegation candidates Altrincham.

Chris Senior opened the scoring after just two minutes in a match that saw two players receive their marching orders.

Senior took his chance well with the game having barely begun as he beat Scott Tynan in the Northwich goal with a neat finish.

Northwich recovered well from this early setback and Lucas Akins equalized in the 17th minute.

Akins finished off a well-worked move with a well placed effort from the edge of the big box.

And the turn-around was complete when Ryan Brown scored from a free kick just before half-time after Stephen Aspinall had fouled Nick Farquharson in a central position roughly 20 yards out.

The second half was a testy affair with both sides determined to battle for every ball.

Tempers had threatened to boil over for much of the half with the referee finally persuaded to send both Senior and Luke Horrocks from the field for violent behavior.

Altrincham bookings: Aspinall 51, Lane 90
