Scott Rendell

Cambridge United 2-1 Altrincham

Cambridge United left it late to make their dominance count as they ran out victors over a spirited Altrincham side on Saturday afternoon.

Lee McEvilly opened the scoring for the home side in the 23rd minute when he slotted home a Scott Rendell cross from the right side of the penalty area.

That was the only real action of the first-half as neither side could string a potent attack together.

The second-half was a different story altogether as both side's finally began to make their attacks count.

Colin Little finally equalised for the visiting side in the 81st minute when he found the net from a Joe O'Neill pass, but their celebrations were short lived as Mark Convery netted the winner for the home side with five minutes left on the clock.
