Colin Little

Aldershot 2-1 Altrincham

Aldershot continued their surge towards the Blue Square Premier title with a hard fought victory over Altrincham on Saturday afternoon.

The home side, however, did not get off to the best of starts.

Colin Little put the visiting Robins into the lead on 14 minutes when he found the back of the net from 12 yards out with a fine right-footed drive.

That lead lasted for just eight minutes, as the home side hit back in superb style.

Junior Mendes created an opening in the visiting defence before sending a pinpoint cross to Anthony Charles, who wasted no time in slotting home from close range.

Despite the home side's dominance, Altrincham put in a resolute defensive display after conceding, but they could only hold out for so long.

And Scott Davies was the man who broke that resistance when he found the back of the net in the 67th minute from a superbly placed free-kick.

That goal sealed the points for the home side and it leaves them 12 points clear of Cambridge United in second spot.
