Weymouth 2-2 Altrincham

There was no shortage of action at Wessex Stadium on Saturday evening after both teams were reduced to ten men in the first period.

The Terras were fortunate to take the lead after six minutes when Altrincham's Gary Scott miscued his clearance and the ball ended up in his own net.

Altrincham were fighting for their Blue Square survival and they clawed their way back into the game in the 27th minute when Colin Little fired a 12-yard effort into the back of the net.

The pressure seemed to be taking it's toll on the players and hit a critical point when Altrincham's Robbie Lawton received his marching orders for a foul on Kyle Critchell.

However, Critchell reacted angrily to the challenge and was subsequently shown a red card as well.

With the first half coming to a close, the Terras reclaimed the lead through Michael Malcolm's 20 yard finish.

Altrincham - fuelled by the threat of relegation - still had some fight left in them and restored parity in the 79th minute when Chris Senior slotted home a Ryan Shotton assist header.

Despite fighting valiantly, Altrincham's point gained on Saturday was not enough to stave of relegation.

Weymouth bookings: Challis 12, Beavon 22, Weatherstone 36, Roberts 56.

Sent off: Critchell 31.

Altrincham bookings: Toulson 90.

Sent off: Scott 31.
