Steve Bull's Stafford Rangers edged out 10-man Droylsden at Marston Road on Saturday evening to lift themselves off the foot of the Blue Square Premier table.
The hosts got off to good start when veteran Neil Grayson fired in the opener from the left-hand side of penalty area in the 13th minute.
Droylsden found themselves minutes a man after 32 minutes when Ged Murphy was shown a straight red card for a foul on Stafford's Jonathan Loukes.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, the Bloods were the next team to find the back of the net.
Stafford's Ritchie Sutton gave away a free kick on the edge of the area which Sean Newton went on to fire into the top-right corner.
The Rangers reclaimed the lead in the 69th minute thanks to Nick Wellecomm and held firm to collect all three points in their final Blue Square Premier fixture.
