Droylsden 1-4 Rushden & Diamonds

Michael Rankine put in a fantastic performance against Droylsden on Saturday afternoon as Rushden & Diamonds thumped their hosts 4-1.

The Diamonds opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Wayne Hatswell hit a wonderful volley into the back of the net from a Andrew Burgess corner.

It was 2-0 on the stroke of half-time when the impressive Rankine scored a fabulous solo effort.

Lee Roche put a damper on proceedings on 50 minutes when he was sent-off for a professional foul on Simeon Jackson in the penalty area. Jackson picked himself up and slotted home the resulting penalty to put the visitors in the driving seat.

Jody Banim made things interesting in the 59th minute when he pulled one back for the home side, but Rankine was on hand once again to put the match out of Droylsden's reach when he made it 4-1.
