Cambridge confirmed their play-off credentials with a resounding 5-0 win over Droylsden on Tuesday night.
Scott Rendell bagged a hat-trick at the Abbey Stadium as the Bloods were completely outplayed.
Rendell opened the scoring after 10 minutes and Robert Wolleaston's long-range rocket from 30 metres made it 2-0 just after the half-hour mark.
Jimmy Quinn's side continued to push in the second period and were rewarded when Stephen Reed combined well with Lee McEvilly, who slid the ball home to increase United's advantage.
Just a few minutes later Rendell headed home Courtney Pitt's lovely cross to score his second and Cambridge's fourth.
And Rendell completed the rout and his hat-trick with a quarter of an hour on the clock.
Mark Convery fed the striker the ball and he finished with aplomb from 18 yards.
