Altrincham did their chances of survival no harm on Saturday afternoon as they recorded a comfortable win at Droylsden's Butchers Arms stadium.
The first period ended goalless with neither of the two sides able to create very many clear-cut chances.
However, it was a different story in the second half as the visitors raced into the lead in the 46th minute thanks to Robbie Lawton.
Altrincham earned a free kick on the edge of the box in the 70th minute and it proved costly for the Bloods as veteran Colin Little headed in James Jennings' free kick at the left-hand side of the six-yard box.
