Butchers Arms

Droylsden 2-0 Halifax

Ten-man Droylsden put a dent in Halifax Town's hopes of staving off relegation with a hard fought victory at Butchers Arms on Easter Monday.

The home side got off to the perfect start when they raced into the lead on six minutes.

Jamie McGuire was the man who grabbed that goal when he lashed home a pinpoint cross from Ashley Burberry.

The opening goal did not throw the visitors off course though, as the probed time and again looking for an equaliser.

But the elusive goal was not be as the home side doubled their lead shortly after half-time.

Terry Fearns got that decisive goal when he drilled McGuire's pass into the back of the net.

Despite the home side having the better of the play after the second goal, they took a hit when Greg Strong was dismissed.

Strong was handed his marching orders for a second bookable offence after a heavy tackle on Halifax's Danny Forrest.

Despite having a man less than the opposition, the home side continued to defend well as they cruised to the three-points without much of a say from faltering Halifax.
