Cambridge boss Jimmy Quinn
Cambridge United kept their promotion play-off charge on track with a comfortable win over Droylsden at the Butchers Arms on Saturday afternoon.
Jimmy Quinn's side claimed the lead after just eight minutes when Ben Farrell collected a flicked header Wayne Hatswell and placed his effort in the top-left corner.
The visitors doubled their advantage after the break thanks to Mark Beesley's powerful finish from 20 yards out and look comfortable with a two-goal cushion.
There was drama late in the game when Droylsden's Levi Mackin was penalised for a foul on Robert Wolleaston in the area.
Courtney Pitt stepped up to take the resulting spot kick but his powerful shot was saved by Droylsden shot-stopper Paul Phillips.
Droylsden bookings: Denham 42, Roche 45, Mackin 90.
Cambridge bookings: Carden 20.
