Fleetwood 3-1 Droylsden (5-4 Pen)

Fleetwood Town will play in the Blue Square North play-off final against Alfreton Town after defeating Droylsden in the semi-final second leg on penalties.

Town emerged as 3-1 winners over the Bloods on Sunday evening but the tie went to extra time and then the dreaded spot-kicks due to Droylsden having won the first leg 2-0, leaving the two sides tied 3-3 on aggregate.

Alfreton, meanwhile secured their place via a comfortable 3-1 (4-1 aggregate) win over Workington.

Jamie Milligan opened the scoring after 42 minutes with Gareth Seddon adding a second on the stroke of half time - ensuring an extra 30 minutes would be played.

Simon Grand thought he had found a winner for the home side after he found the target with 110 minutes on the clock but Lee Roche scored just three minutes later to keep his side in the tie.

Fleetwood, though emerged from the dramatic tie as the winners after claiming a 5-4 victory on penalties, leaving a bitter taste in the mouth of Droylsden fans, who watched their side beaten by Stafford on penalties in the 2006 play-off final.

Perhaps it was just reward for Fleetwood, who finished 21 points ahead of Droylsden in the league.
